t for the weekend. >> things look fantastic just like you in your pretty colors, amanda meadows is looking pretty in her orange. i obviously didn't get the memo. beautiful start to the day 50s and 60s. reagan national 61 degrees with a light northerly wind and, yes our camera still looks dark. our sunrise still an hour away. 55 degrees is what you're waking up to in gaithersburg maryland, montgomery county, this morning 51 dallas, 48 manassas, 56 in lexington park. there are some clouds that have been moving in from the northeast and tracking towards the southwest so there will be some clouds out there this morning but we'll break out into i alittle bit of sunshine for the second half of day with highs in the lower to middle 70s. much more in my forecast coming from the belfort furniture weather center in just a bit but let's send it over to amanda meadows, good morning. >> good morning eileen. we're watching a three-mile backup on 95 northbound. we just got word that all lanes are cleared on 95 north near

lorton road but the crash has had the left lane closed for a little over 35 minutes so it's still causing some delays. this is a shot from news chopper 7 where you can see that slow going traffic, however, we've also goss a camera shot from our camera system that shows the brake lights there past objecting i kwan, prince william parkway. residual delays in the hov lanes. the delays should ease but take some time. route 109 from urbana. and 295 picked up some heavy traffic there due to debris from a crash second lane from the left. more details coming up. back to autria and jummy. >> 6:02 and new this morning in maryland. a man recovers from a shooting as police search for suspects. >> this happened a little after midnight along 100th avenue in

lanham, maryland. the man was taken to the hospital but no update on his condition. police are trying to determine if this was a home invasion. they're looking for two suspects who fled on foot. >> coming up in the day ahead family and friends say their final good-bye at the funeral for the woodbridge high school football player killed during a robbery. 18-year-old kenny diaz was stabbed to death last weekend in marumsco acre lake park. a dozen people have been arrested. police believe it was drug-related. tonight the woodbridge -- tonight the woodbridge high school football team plays their first game since his death. >> 6:03 and more than 30 paramedics who responded to a navy yard shooting will be honored for their bravely this morning. d.c. fire chief kenneth ellerbee will award them with a medal at the training academy later on today. >> montgomery county becomes the first spot in maryland to join the capital bike share program. >> county officials plan a launch later on this morning. suzanne kennedy is live in rockville with more on this

story. exciting day out there suzanne. >> absolutely, jummy and autria. look at these buicks, they've got them lined up in the heart of rockville. this is a really exciting day for anybody who likes bicycle riding here in montgomery county. there are going to be about 51 stations where they're going to have 450 bikes throughout montgomery county. that will be in areas such as rocket friendship highs, bethesda, takoma park and life sciences area mere in montgomery county. obviously a very popular program. it started in washington, d.c. and then spread to the northern virginia suburbs of arlington and alexanderia and now it will be here in montgomery county. the county executive ike reggett will kick it off at around 10:30 and then all these bikes will be available to residents here. interesting note for both of you, d.c.'s capital bike share just had its 4 millionth right, so very popular, you can pay an annual fee, you can pay

for the capitol as they vote on a spending bill, at least the senate. eileen, sunrise sometime after 7:00? >> yes after 7:00, 7:01 is sunrise this morning. it's a little bit dark as so many of us are trying to get up and get going. at least we're trying to bring you sunshine. today's travel weather. i know it's friday a lot of people may be making a long weekend and traveling bwi travel forecast looking good across most of the country. if you're leaving from any of the major hubs from the d.c. metro area it looks like things will be fine. clouds out there this morning temperatures in the 50s and then by this afternoon we'll break out into a little bit of sunshine and highs in the upper 70s. warmer great lakes midwest deep south. 81 in indianapolis, 83 degrees in nashville with plenty of sunshine and another disturbance, though moving into the northwest. and that's going to bring a little bit of some rain. but for us things looking pretty good even into the upcoming

weekend in the nation's capital. are things looking good on the roadways? amanda meadows joins us with a check. >> not as pretty on the roadways as it is in the traffic forecast. right now we've got at low activity in virginia. back past the occoquan bridge, prince william parkway. thicker in the hov system than in the through lanes. earlier crash in the through lanes near lorton. new crash 95 northbound in the hov system which may very well be why we're seeing the thicker delays on the hov system on our cameras. that's also reported to the left so you might want to stick with those through lanes. route 1 spillover overflow delays as well with people working their way around. inbound 11th street bridge picking up a crash second lane from the left, approaching the m street exit so be prepared. those delays building very quickly on 295 northbound

in the city upper 50s to 60 degrees. there are clouds out there this morning. that doesn't mean there will be rain. rain-free today. really nice. clouds holding pretty thick through recess but temperatures right around 67. not as warm as yesterday. highs around 74 but later on this afternoon as you're getting dropped off and kick starting your weekend i think you'll see more sunshine and high temperatures temperatures by dropoff time right around 72 degrees. jummy. >> thank you eileen. checking world headlines now. crews are scrambling to rescue people from a deadly building collapse in india. a five-story building crumbled to the ground in mumbai. officials say three people were killed and 90 trapped in the rubble. this is the third deadly building collapse in mumbai in the next six months. patrol boats and helicopters are searching waters off japan for six crew members that went missing after two ships collided overnight. the japanese coast guard said one of the ships capsized.

the collision between the japanese and african ships capsized outside tokyo. >> the 41 nation council will go over the deal to approve the u.s.-russian deal disarming syria's promise on chemical weapons. they worked over the plan behind closed doors. the watchdog group wants inspections of syria's chemical arsenal to begin no longer than tuesday. they now say with extreme confidence the man made global warming extremely likely caused by human. in 2007 report they called it very likely. the international scientist group based the findings on observations since 1950s. the scientists report comes out on monday. >> a dust storm made for tense moments for drivers in the phoenix area. crews closed off a 14-mile stretch of a highway yesterday

because of the low visibility and several cars were actually crashed. no word, though if there were any injuries. now, that is not a haboob right, that's a regular old dust storm. >> regular old dust storm. look at the backups. >> i know. >> you can hardly see. whiteout conditions when you have snow or heavyys the scariest when you have to drive through any of that. >> any fog out there this patchy fog. nothing too widespread but in some of the fog keep that in mind. overall you should not encountered too much that should slow you down early friday morning getting to your destination. temperatures a little bit on the cool side. 64 in annapolis. a little bit influence from the chesapeake bay that's why it doesn't get quite as cool right along the bay but at st. francis school in silver spring 59, 57 campbell elementary school buffalo trail elementary school 54 degrees. there are clouds that are out there as a little bit of

moisture starting to move in from the late easterly wind that's bringing on shore some of that atlantic moisture, bringing us a little bit of cloud covering. you can see that evident as clouds are moving in. this blip that you see over there, great falls that's not any rain none of the clouds are going to produce rain today. we'll just see clouds. otherwise i think throughout the afternoon we'll start to see a little bit more sunshine but high pressure still our dominant weather feature and that's what's bringing us this dry weather pattern and even though it's so nice to see a dry weather pattern especially in the weekend we're two inches below our monthly rainfall so we do need rain and unfortunately it doesn't look like we're going to see much of that anytime soon. the area of low pressure that moved off to our north that will stay off shore that it won't impact us this weekend. clouds this morning. afternoon sunshine 71-75 degrees tonight partly cloudy and cool, 49 to about 58 degrees and then tomorrow i think kind of the same as today with clouds in the morning, more afternoon sunshine and things

looking fantastic as we ruined out the weekend on sunday. the last few days of september monday 77 and then as we kick start october, temperatures a little bit milder in the upper 70s. amanda meadows, how are things looking on the roadways this morning? >> well, it is a busy friday morning commute especially for those drivers in virginia heading up toward the springfield interchange, we just picked up a new crash and then we've got this crash working in the hov system. this is going to be near lorton road, you can see that that right side is closed in the hov system. now those through lanes had a crash in the same area earlier so not only are you running extremely heavy in the hov lanes but you've got a solid backup in those through lanes all the way past the occoquan bridge. route 1 might be a better option this morning but we're starting to see overflow delays. this is the second crash that i was talking about that we just picked up. this is a brand-new one blocking that right side in the through lanes on 95 northbound approaching franconia and the springfield interchange or

beltway area. 95 northbound in the hov you've got that right side closed and then you've got that new crash approaching the springfield interchange. 295 building quickly as well. we've actually got a shot from our mobile unit who's on 295 southbound heading into the 11th street bridge. back toward pennsylvania. seems to be moving along, ok, but you're going to hit the brake lights heading into the 11th street bridge. debris on the left side there so building quickly northbound and southbound. 66 just normal delays. back to you. >> ok, thank you amanda. be sure to always follow amanda on twitter, get more traffic updates on your cell phone. her handle there is @gridlockgoddess. >> 6:20 and a wall street turnaround breaks a five-day losing streak. >> how about this mcdonald's is going green and lean, what they're offering up with your big mac. "good morning, washington," friday, september 27th autria. >> i'm jummy olabanji. let's check in with meteorologist eileen whelan for a look at your weekend forecast, it's a beautiful one. >> yeah, i mean, things look fantastic. good morning ladies and good morning everyone happy friday to you. getting out the door this friday morning temperatures are on the cool side but not all that bad. reagan national 62 degrees, notice the winds now have shifted out of the north and east. skies have become cloudy and that's what's actually keeping temperatures from falling. in fact we've actually risen a few degrees over the past hour or so. 57 degrees now in dulles. at the beginning of our show at

4:30 we were down to 48. so temperatures have really shot up. 46 in winchester, 53 in fredericksburg and 59 at bwi. you can see the clouds that have been moving from the northeast southwest into the d.c. metro area. the blips that you're seeing over fairfax and right along the loudoun and montgomery county not falling just a little bit of some mid and high-level clouds we'll see throughout the morning but sunshine returning for the afternoon and highs in the lower 70s. all right, let's turn things over to amanda meadows now who has a look at the morning commute. >> eileen, we've got several problems on 95 northbound in virginia. started off early with an accident near lorton. now we're watching an accident in that same stretch of roadway but it's going to be in the hov system. so this shot from news chopper 7 shows us those hov lanes and this is actually going to be along 95, and that is going to be coming into the springfield interchange. that's that new crash that i was reporting on. they also have a crash in the

hov system and that is going to be near lorton on the right side. this is that crash the same crash that chopper just had. i'm going to show you the backups on 95 northbound approaching the beltway. slams coming into the fairfax parkway 95 northbound in those through lanes due to the new crash just before the beltway. it is going to be as you're getting on to those lanes leading into 395 northbound so that's going to cause problems for commuters headed toward 395. you might want to use the beltway instead this morning if you can. backup 60 miles per hour coming in on 95 northbound near the occoquan during that earlier delay and the accident working inside the hov lanes. mobile unit shows us things are moving right along on 395 near cemetery road. send it back over to you. >> all righty, thank you so much amanda. 6:32 is your time and time is running out for lawmakers for avoid a government shutdown. they're working frantically right now to keep a way to keep

our government funded. >> a vote is expected in the senate today but that doesn't mean they're going to reach a agreement. brianne carter live on capitol hill with the latest this morning, brianne. >> well a lot of back ann forth still here -- back-and-forth on capitol hill. it will continue later today as well. as we know we're getting down to the wire four days to go and it appears there's still no compromise between republicans and democrats. later today as you mentioned 9:30 this morning the senate is expected to reconvene. they will take up a bill expected to fund the government through november 15th. now, it is likely to pass here in the senate but then it goes over to the house. as you know, the house passed the measure originally that calls for funding of the government but also calls for defunding the healthcare law and so it is strict that language in the senate and go back in the house and many in the house say it will not pass there so a lot of back-and-forth expected to continue. >> the american people don't want the president's healthcare bill and don't want the

government to shut down. the president says i'm not going to negotiate. well, i'm sorry but it just doesn't work that way. >> you can huff, you can puff for 21 hours, but you cannot blow the affordable care act away. >> political analysts believe this debate will continue into the weekend, likely right up there until the deadline and, of course, we're not just talking about people here on capitol hill. we're talking about those hundreds of thousands of federal workers that could be affected by all of this as well. we do expect to hear from the dodd later today. they're expected -- department of defense. we're not just talking about this deadline. another one reaching the debt limit, of course will be 17 days later after this one. reporting live on capitol hill brianne carter, abc7 news. >> en and the back-and-forth will continue then.

thank you very much. police are investigating a shooting in prince george's county. a man was shot 12:15 this morning on 100th avenue in lanham. he was taken to the hospital we don't know his condition. police are trying to determine if this was a home invasion. they're looking for two suspects who fled on foot. a united airlines pilot is recovering in the hospital this morning after suffering a heart attack mid flight. flight 1603 was scheduled to land in seattle but diverted to boise, idaho. when the plane landed paramedics boarded the plane to take the pilot to the hospital. passengers waited until a new pilot flew in from san francisco. >> 6:35 is your time and we're following some new developments in the deadly attack in that mall in kenya. overnight investigators recovered a vehicle they believe the terrorists used. but they're not releasing too many details this morning. fbi agents along with investigators from great britain, canada and germany are now in kenya. at least 67 people were killed when members of the somalian

the inner loop or oil, excuse me in connecticut through montgomery county. 95 in virginia first, we can see that one on the cameras. you can see you've got that right -- looks like they moved it over to the left shoulder there on 95 approaching the springfield interchange and that is going to be headed toward the beltway again, on the left shoulder. luckily they did get that moved over but you can see the delays going all the way toward fairfax parkway. 95 northbound before the beltway you can see bright red all the way down toward occoquan and across the occoquan bridge due to that activity that hov crash has cleared so that's the good news there. that's that delay you're seeing heading into the springfield interchange. slow going traffic and it looks like a breakdown there near fairfax county fenway park way. we've got an incident -- parkway. we've got an incident debris in

patriot aaron hernandez. carlos ortiz faces a gun charge to determine if he'll remain in jail. one of hernandez's codefendants new evidence against him. hernandez was only one who got out of car and shot odon multiple times. he pled not guilty. >> police describe as a leading international drug lord is in custody. drug enforcement administration agents arrested joseph manuel hunter. they were arrested in a sting operation in thailand. handed over to dea agents this morning and sent back to the u.s. >> the jury begins a full day of deliberations in the michael jackson death case today. they met for two hours yesterday after attorneys wrapped up closing arguments. the plaintiffs in this case jack kaplan jackson and kathleen jackson. a unanimous verdict is not

hospital. flag blowing in the bottom part of the screen. our annapolis live camera. notice some of the clouds. now, in d.c. i've been looking at the weatherbug camera on top of our studio and the skies are relatively overcast. the sun rise, i'm sure there will be parts where you'll see the vibrant colors but don't be disappointed, i don't think we're going to see quite the spectacular sunrise that we did just a few mornings ago. 62 right now is what you're waking up to. 67 in dulles and gaithersburg. temperatures have risen a good bit over the past hour so as clouds have started to move in the clouds moving in from the northeast down to the southwest. so most of the area under cloudy skies but if your travels are going to take you farther west into west virginia this morning you'll see more sunshine. the cloud cover out there is due to a light easterly wind flow and basically around this area of low pressure we get some of that moisture being transported over the atlantic into our area. bring you some clouds. but no precipitation expected.

and brianne carter is live with the story for us, brianne. >> autria. we are down to the wire when it comes to reaching the deal to fund the government it doesn't seem like there's a compromise on the table between democrats and republicans. the senate expected to take up a measure later today that would fund the government through november 15th but also in that measure a slimmed down version. it doesn't include anything about defunding the president's healthcare law. that's the measure that passed the house earlier and the bill back to the house many house members say they will not pass the stripped-down version. it is likely that the back-and-forth will continue right up to the deadline. suzanne. >> all these bikes are rating to be put off to use as capitol bikes kick off today in montgomery county. there will be 51 station like this one, 450 bikes throughout the county in places like bethesda rockville takoma park, friendship highs, gaithersburg, total number of bikes in the bike share program
